35th Anniversary Thunderbird Registry

Fog Lamp Replacement

The original Ford fog light bulbs in the stock housings are marginal when it comes to lighting power. The bulbs are rated at 27 watts and if you use a higher wattage, thus a brighter beam, you risk melting the housings. I have had some Registry members tell me they liked the lamps pictured below. The mounting was fairly easy. You drill a hole in the center of the mounting bracket of the lamps and through the original mounting bracket and that's it. The housings are metal and slightly smaller than the original plastic pieces but these bulbs are 55 watts each and many have liked the amber glow of the lamps. This is just one suggestion you might try. These lights are inexpensive and can be bought at Autozone, among other stores.

If you are comtemplating a more radical replacement, I suggest you look into the lighting kits that are available from
http://www.supercoupeperformance.com/Miscellaneous.htm . They have some high performance lighting kits that are very easy to install and will save the load on your cars system. Headlight and foglight problems are common with SuperCoupes.
